You’re probably here because you’re worried that your child is falling behind in math, and you understand how this can negatively impact their future. This is not an uncommon fear, especially when students move from middle school math into Algebra. If they don’t understand those concepts — likely because they aren’t being taught the right way — they lose this short window to build a solid foundation for higher math like Algebra 2 and Calculus… And falling behind in math robs them of opportunities. We don’t want that! Unfortunately, many kids and parents give up on math when it starts to get hard.
But it doesn’t have to be this way!
My name is Eden, I’m a university physics student, and I’m a former math-hater, turned math-geek! That’s why I know what’s possible for your student — I used to be in their shoes! Math never came easily to me, and I had to explore ways to make it work for my unique learning style. This is why I’m certain struggling with math is never the student’s fault — everyone can learn it and learn it well! Heck, your math-hating child may even realize they love it — if they’re taught the right way.
That’s why my approach is a bit different. My goal isn’t just to help your child memorize a set of formulas, but to reset their brains from “fixed” to a “growth” mind-set so they can become life-long math learners on their own! I also use more visual teaching methods, such as “Math-monics” — a term I coined which is a combo of math and mnemonics techniques.
